Libya marks 1st independence day in 42 years

For the first time in more than four decades, Libyans on Saturday celebrated the 60th anniversary of the country’s independence from Italy and France.

Under Muammar Qaddafi’s 42-year rule, the celebration was scrapped and instead, only the 1969 date of his coup was marked.

“Today we begin the building of Libya as our forefathers have done,” Prime Minister Abdurrahim El-Keib said during the celebration. “We call on our sons to build Libya after its destruction.”

(IslamDag) - Indonesian Ambassador Hamid Awaluddin hoisted the national flag on Wednesday to mark the beginning of the 66th Independence Day celebrations of his country in Russia. Embassy officials, Indonesian students and expatriates, invited guests and dignitaries around 200 guests were present.

Russia' Pakistani community marked the 65th Pakistan Independence Day on Sunday with fervor and enthusiasm at the Pakistan Embassy in Moscow.

Various functions were held in this regard.
The start of the day was solemnized with recitations from the Holy Qur’an and flag hoisting ceremonies.

H.E. Ambassador Mohammad Khalid Khattak unfurled the national flag at a largely attended function at the embassy at Moscow. Invited guests, dignitaries and people from all walks of life witnessed the ceremony.
